'Worst of the human spirit': George Conway breaks down searing ad featuring Trump’s accusers

Image
Earlier this week, conservative attorney George Conway's "Anti-Psychopath PAC" released new 60-second campaign ads featuring the testimonies of women who accused former President Donald Trump of sexual assault and misconduct. In one of the ads, People magazine journalist Natasha Stoynoff recalled her encounter with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida in 2005, where he allegedly took her into a side room in the house while his wife, Melania, was changing and suddenly started aggressively kissing and groping her while she tried to push him away. The PAC also released an ad of former stockbroker Jessica Leeds describing how Trump started groping her and attempting to put his hand up her skirt without her consent on a flight in 1979. “Donald Trump views women as for his entertainment,” Leeds said. “He is a serial predator. He has said it point blank, and he’s done it, and he will continue to do it.” READ MORE: 'Frankly incriminating': George Conway reveal...

Mark Robinson on track for 'largest defeat in more than 40 years' of any NC gov candidate

Image
The North Carolina gubernatorial election could culminate in the most lopsided victory for any candidate in decades, according to the latest polling. A new CNN/SSRS poll shows that Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who is the Republican nominee in the Tar Heel State's 2024 race for the governorship, is now 17 points behind Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein with just five weeks to go before Election Day. The poll is notably the first survey of North Carolina voters since the news broke of an account believed to be Robinson making numerous racist, anti-Semitic, pro-slavery and even pro-Hitler posts on an adult website's message board. While Stein led Robinson in polls taken prior to the story, his new significant lead over the lieutenant governor could be a turning point in the election. According to CNN, if the poll turns out to be accurate, it would mean Robinson is about to "suffer the largest defeat in more than 40 years for a major-party nominee for governor...

GOP candidate caught posing with 'wife and children of a longtime friend' in campaign video

Derrick Anderson, a special forces veteran who is the Republican nominee in Virginia's 7th congressional district, was recently caught using his friend's family as props in campaign footage. The New York Times reported Friday that there's actually more to an image of Anderson circulated by the National Republican Congressional Committee that "looks like a photo that might be used for an annual holiday card." Footage on his YouTube channel also shows him sitting with that same woman and children "chatting and smiling," even though they are not actually his. "[T]he people are not relatives. They are the wife and children of a longtime friend," the Times wrote. "Mr. Anderson, who announced this month that he was engaged, does not have any children of his own. His campaign website says he lives with his dog and does not display any of the photos." READ MORE: 'Very scary' Expert explains how GOP's 'obsession with ch...

'Trump looks bad': Ex-president mocked for reply to question about MAGA candidate endorsement

Image
When a reporter asked Donald Trump Thursday whether or not he plans to take back his endorsement for North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson, the ex-president replied: "Uhh I don’t know the situation." Robinson came under fire last week after CNN reported that the MAGA candidate posted racially and sexually offensive comments on a pornography website's message board, and referred to himself as a "Black Nazi." Several political experts and journalists were quick to put Trump — who endorsed Robinson earlier this year — on blast for his response. Donald Trump's senior adviser Jason Miller says that under a second Trump presidency , "it's 'going to be up to the states' whether or not they set up regimes to monitor women’s pregnancies so they can prosecute them for getting out of state abortions." During a Wednesday Newsmax interview, the conservative interviewer asked, "[Trump] wouldn't support monitoring pregnancies even if a state decided to do that?" Miller replied, "Well, he's made it very clear that he's not gonna go and weigh in and try to push various states in how they want to go and set up their particular rules and restrictions. McConnell warns GOP 'it’s over' for Republicans if Harris wins and kills Senate filibuster

Image
Outgoing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) isn't optimistic about how Republicans will fare if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the November election and Democrats keep control of the Senate. According to Semafor , McConnell is particularly worried about Harris' stated goal of abolishing the filibuster. The vice president called for an end to the procedure in order to pass legislation restoring abortion rights taken away after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. The Kentucky Republican told the outlet that the finality of ending the filibuster would mean there's little Republicans could do to stop Democrats' agenda. "What I concluded is, whenever they think it’s getting in the way of something they really want to do, they’re going to break the rules,” McConnell said. “And once you do it once, it’s over.” READ MORE: Senate Democrat in must-win state comes out against Harris' plan to end filibuster Sen. House Democrats laugh at GOP leader’s defense of Republican behind racist anti-Haitian tweet

Image
After Rep. Clay Higgins (R-Louisiana) posted a tweet bashing both Haiti and its people, a wave of backlash led to him deleting it. Now, some Democrats are calling for Higgins to be officially censured. On Wednesday, Higgins weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding both former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) spreading a widely debunked lie about Haitian refugees in Springfield, Ohio eating residents' pets. Earlier this week, the nonprofit Haitian Bridge Alliance pushed for criminal charges against Trump and Vance for knowingly lying about the Haitian community, which they say was a direct contributor to the wave of threats to Haitians in Ohio and elsewhere. In his tweet. Higgins wrote: "Lol. These Haitians are wild. Eating pets, vudu, nastiest country in the western hemisphere, cults, slapstick gangsters… but damned if they don’t feel all sophisticated now, filing charges against our President and VP. Ex-North Carolina GOP gov admits Republicans knew Mark Robinson was a 'ticking time bomb'

Image
North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson — who is currently the Republican nominee in this year's gubernatorial race — has recently been embroiled in an embarrassing scandal that could cost Republicans both the governorship and even the Tar Heel State's Electoral College votes. Now, the Tar Heel State's former governor is saying his party knew better. The Hill reports that Pat McCrory, who was governor for four years between 2013 and 2017, is now suggesting the North Carolina Republican Party was already well-aware that Robinson's extreme positions could jeopardize the 2024 election and risk former President Donald Trump losing the state's 16 electoral votes. “I got a feeling about a month ago, the Trump campaign was finding out that there could be some dirty laundry on Robinson,” McCrory said on CNN. He reminded viewers that Trump has been “avoiding” Robinson since August. READ MORE: 'Mein Kampf is a good read': Account linked to Mark Robinso...

Conservative reveals one thing he thinks Trump 'intends to actually do' as president

Image
Longtime conservative and staunch Donald Trump critic, Charlie Sykes, on Tuesday predicted that one of the promises the former president has failed to keep, is one Sykes believes the MAGA hopeful will keep if he wins in November. "Could we just freeze the moment and look at what Donald Trump is saying that he's going to do? What he is explicitly running on, the lies he's willing to tell," Sykes said, speaking with MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace. "This is something that I think he intends to do," the former Bulwark editor-in-chief continued. "Eight years ago, he was talking about 'I'm going to build a wall, and Mexico is going to pay for it.' And I think we knew that was bogus. It was never going to happen." Senate Democrat in must-win state comes out against Kamala Harris’ plan to end filibuster

Image
Vice President Kamala Harris is promising to end the filibuster in order to pass legislation codifying Roe v. Wade 's abortion protections into law. That may meet a hurdle if Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana) has anything to say about it. Semafor reported Tuesday that Tester has made it clear he would oppose Harris' efforts to do away with the filibuster outright if he wins another six-year term this November. The three-term Democrat clarified that while he wants to keep the filibuster, he would prefer changes to how it's wielded. “My stance is this: We need to change the filibuster into a talking filibuster,” Tester told Semafor. “We should not eliminate the filibuster.” READ MORE: GOP Senate candidate's account of military service 'does not match his own words': report Currently, legislation in the Senate is often stalled due to the filibuster, which happens when one member invokes a "cloture" vote. A Supreme Court justice warned this ruling would cause 'large-scale disruption.' It’s already happening

Image
Reporting Highlights Long-time Precedent Abandoned: The high court rejected a doctrine granting deference to regulatory agencies in interpreting laws when Congress hasn’t clearly defined the scope of the agencies’ power. Effects Were Immediate: After less than three months, parties or judges have invoked the new ruling in 110 cases, with more likely to come. Broad Reach: The ruling has already been cited in cases on abortion, overtime pay, airline fees, protections against health care discrimination, background checks for guns and more. These highlights were written by the reporters and editors who worked on this story. For headline-grabbing drama, few Supreme Court decisions could equal the justices’ July ruling that former presidents are immune from criminal prosecution for virtually all of their official acts. But a decision in the seemingly humdrum realm of administrative law could end up having far broader consequences, affecting vast areas of American life by slashing...

Why is Trump barely campaigning? Harris lives in his head

Image
Last week, I was telling you about how Vice President Kamala Harris hurt her opponent so badly that he would spend his remaining time on the campaign trail replaying what she did to him at the debate. She damaged his ego by saying to his face and in front of 60 million television viewers: Donald Trump is what he hates . A weak, boring loser. The truth of that is going to preoccupy him so much, I said, that long stretches of his rallies and other appearances will be dedicated to making up a story about how he beat her . Well, I hate to say I told you so … — (@) It wasn’t an isolated moment. Every day since the debate, Trump has been trying to rewrite history, because if she’s right, he’s wrong, and he’s never wrong. He’s a winner. If he does lose, it’s someone else’s fault. Of course, the more he tries, the more he proves her point. She’s gotten so deep under his skin, the man has practically forgotten why he’s campaigning. At the debate, Harris said at one point : “I’m goin...

'Mein Kampf is a good read': Account linked to Mark Robinson praised Hitler’s manifesto

Image
North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate (and current lieutenant governor) Mark Robinson found himself in the midst of scandal this week after CNN reported on pro-slavery and anti-Semitic comments he made on an adult website. But new details are emerging suggesting Robinson has a unique affinity for Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. On Friday, the Washington Post reported that the "minisoldr" account linked to Robinson on multiple websites and social media platforms — including some profiles with his photo and the display name "Mark Robinson" — once suggested Hitler's manifesto to a user asking for book recommendations. While many of the comments minisoldr/Robinson made on the site Nude Africa have since been deleted, the Post reported that it obtained screenshots of deleted posts from someone "with access to the site." "Mein Kampf is a good read," minisoldr wrote. "It’s very informative and not at all what I thought it would be...

'Hurts the city and its people': Ohio gov rips Trump and Vance’s lies about Haitian migrants

Image
Ever since Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) began spreading a debunked conspiracy theory about Haitian refugees in Springfield, Ohio, Republican Governor Mike DeWine has remained relatively quiet. Now, he's speaking out in defense of migrants — and condemning his fellow Republicans' rhetoric. In a New York Times op-ed , DeWine heaped praise on both Springfield, Ohio and on its Haitian immigrant population, directly refuting Vance's debunked claims that Haitians are making the community less safe. He specifically singled out former President Donald Trump and his running mate — whom he admitted to still supporting in the November election — saying their rumor-mongering was both harmful and untrue. "I am saddened by how they and others continue to repeat claims that lack evidence and disparage the legal migrants living in Springfield," DeWine wrote. "This rhetoric hurts the city and its people, and it hurts those who have spent their lives there." READ MORE: ...
