'We have to bring back Joe McCarthy': Fox host rages at 'communist' NYC mayoral candidate

Image
Fox News intensified its ongoing attacks on Zohran Mamdani on Thursday, as host Jesse Watters delivered a sweeping monologue accusing the popular but controversial Democratic mayoral nominee of being a communist, portraying his supporters as “radicals,” and calling for the return of an anti-communist crusader. “These are the same dumb Marxist ideas that we’ve been hearing for decades,” Watters declared, “and it’s just destruction. At a certain point, you have to think, democracy is not a suicide pact, right?” “We’re just not gonna allow a faction of radicals in a great city like this to come in, elect the guy, and have it destroyed,” he said, appearing to suggest some form of action against Mamdani, who is not a communist but a self-described Democratic socialist . “What kind of democracy is that?” Watters asked, suggesting electoral outcomes he opposes are not true democracy. “It’s not tolerable to do that.” READ MORE: White House Pushes for Trump to Be Awarded Nobel Peace Priz...

'Huge political issue': Workers outraged as 'fine print' excludes them from Trump tax cut

Image
President Donald Trump's new massive tax and spending law is under fire after workers who put in significant overtime hours are discovering bureaucratic barriers locking them out of a provision meant for them. The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that "fine print" in the "no tax on overtime" section of Trump's law (which he ran on in 2024 ) excludes workers in many sectors that require lots of overtime work, like railroad workers. Because the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers pay time-and-a-half for all hours over 40 per week, the new law makes that "half" tax-free. But because rail industry workers aren't covered under the FLSA, they won't qualify (rail workers' overtime hours are under the jurisdiction of the Railway Labor Act). "It’s a legislative blunder and a political blunder," Transport Workers Union (TWU) international president John Samuelsen told the Journal . "This will become a huge ...

'We have it on video!' Ex-RNC chair rips Trump on 'doing the backstroke away from' Epstein

Image
Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele delivered a blistering critique Wednesday of President Donald Trump’s shifting narrative regarding his relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, underscoring that “we have videotape” evidence contradicting Trump’s denials. During a segment on his MSNBC show Wednesday evening , he said, “This thing is so funny at this point. The funny part for me is everyone sort of treating this like Donald Trump doesn't know Jeffrey Epstein. That's the part I find [funny].” He likened Trump's distancing from Epstein to Trump pretending ignorance of other controversial figures. MAGA podcasters' focus on Epstein 'grew more than eightfold' in spite of Trump: WSJ

Image
Despite President Donald Trump’s public plea for MAGA supporters to “drop the issue,” mentions of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in conservative podcasts surged more than eightfold over the past three weeks, according to a Wall Street Journal review released Wednesday. Joe Rogan, widely regarded as one Trump’s most significant supporters, emphasized last week that he had drawn “a line in the sand” regarding how the administration is handling the Epstein controversy. The Journal's report noted that while speaking on his podcast — which reaches a massive audience of tens of millions – Rogan criticized the president’s approach to the issue. And Rogan isn't the only MAGA-aligned podcaster who has taken a more adversarial tone toward the administration regarding its handling of the case. This split highlights the latest turn in an escalating dispute within conservative circles over the government’s reportedly sluggish release of additional documents tied to Epstein, who d...

'Who says that?' Samuel L. Jackson makes dig at Trump in new ad

Image
Actor Samuel L. Jackson is now starring in a new ad campaign — and his first commercial is taking a not-so-subtle jab at President Donald Trump. Jackson is the new spokesperson for Vattenfall — an electric power company owned by the Swedish government. In the ad , the legendary actor is seen standing on the edge of a rocky cliff overlooking several wind turbines in the ocean, eating seaweed snacks made from seaweed growing beneath the turbines (which aren't for sale). He then referenced remarks Trump made about wind turbines without directly mentioning the president. "Motherf------ wind farms. Loud, ugly, harmful to nature. Who says that?" Jackson said. "These giants are standing tall against fossil fuels. Rising up out of the ocean like a middle finger to CO2. Deep beneath the waves, they can become artificial reefs, creating habitats for sea life to grow." READ MORE: 'Awkward': MAGA GOP rep walks back support of Trump order after site serving con...

'Great cover for increased pricing': CEOs say Trump policies help them gouge customers

Image
American corporate executives are openly acknowledging that they’re exploiting President Donald Trump’s controversial tariffs as “great cover” to justify their price hikes. The New Republic highlighted a Groundwork Collaborative report published Tuesday which revealed that, in their own words, top executives are exploiting Trump’s erratic tariff strategies to jack up the price tags on consumer goods. After reviewing earnings call transcripts from major corporations during the first half of 2025, Groundwork found that executives admitted they planned to raise prices even when they were not directly impacted by the administration’s economic measures. How this Republican is already 'creating a new headache for Speaker Mike Johnson': report

Image
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has already made a major announcement for a major legislative push as soon as members return to Washington D.C. after Labor Day. Politico reported Tuesday that Luna is aiming to gather signatures for what's known as a "discharge petition" (a way of bypassing House leadership) to force a vote on banning members of Congress from trading stocks. The publication described Luna's push as something that is already "creating a new headache for Speaker Mike Johnson" during the month-long August recess. The 2012 STOCK Act already prevents members of Congress from trading based on insider knowledge and requires lawmakers report all stock trades in their financial disclosure. But Luna is pushing for an outright ban, and reportedly has support from Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) READ MORE: 'I thought consumers weren't paying?' 'Why are you bending the knee?' Senator condemns 'complicity with an authoritarian leader'

Image
U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) delivered a searing critique of some of his fellow Democrats, accusing them of being “complicit with an authoritarian”—a clear reference to President Donald Trump. He also chastised a range of American institutions for “bending the knee” and “paying tribute.” He warned that if Democrats fail to unite and confront Trump and his administration’s agenda, they “deserve to lose.” But, he added, if they stand together and speak out with conviction, they can prevail. “The heated exchange arose after Booker objected to a motion from Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a Democrat from Nevada, to swiftly pass a package of bills related to law enforcement,” CBS News reported. “Booker said he wanted to make a change to the bloc of measures to ensure resources are distributed equally among law enforcement agencies in response to the Justice Department’s changes to grant programs and cancellation of awards.” Booker, standing on the Senate floor, at times almost appeari...

'I've got this opportunity': Former GOP rep blames anti-corruption rules for sudden exit

Image
Former Rep. Mark Green (R-Fla.), who officially left Congress last week to pursue a business venture, said in a Tuesday interview that he was “cagey” about his decision because he did not want to be accused of using his position to promote his new company. “Part of the reason why I was so cagey about it is if I go and tell you the name of the company while I’m still a sitting congressman, couldn’t you make the accusation that I’m using my position to advertise my new company?” Green told NOTUS . “Wouldn’t that be inappropriate? Potentially unethical?” READ MORE: 'Moving to Texas is over': Podcasters who followed Joe Rogan to Austin rail against state Green seemed to concede that representing his district while simultaneously setting up a side business venture placed him in a complicated ethical scenario. 'Absolutely unprecedented': FCC commissioner sounds alarm over Trump's 'censorship' of CBS

Image
The lone Democratic appointee on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is now openly condemning President Donald Trump's administration over what she alleges is a "campaign of censorship and control" against a major media outlet. During a Monday interview on MSNBC's "The Beat with Ari Melber," FCC commissioner Anna Gomez — who was appointed to her position by former President Joe Biden — slammed both the Trump administration and FCC chairman Brendan Carr for the conditions imposed on CBS prior to approving parent company Paramount's merger with Skydance. When Melber asked Gomez if the merger was done "in a traditional and proper way," she strongly disagreed. "What you're seeing here is the weaponization of the FCC as part of this administration's campaign of censorship and control," she said. "It exerted pressure on the company in order to gain ideological and financial concessions and favored coverage." ...

'National security nightmare': CIA chief 'sacrificed' top official over criticism of Trump

Image
A stunning turn of events at the Central Intelligence Agency unfolded after a top official’s appointment to the London station — long considered the agency’s most prestigious overseas posting — was abruptly canceled. Now, that official has announced his retirement, the New York Times reported Monday. Tom Sylvester, the agency’s long-serving deputy director for operations, was poised to become the top CIA liaison in the United Kingdom when the agency’s leadership reversed the decision following the publication of excerpts in Tim Weiner’s new book, The Mission . Although Sylvester’s remarks — ranging from intelligence sharing with Ukraine in 2014 to strengthening European alliances — were uncontroversial, their inclusion in the book sparked controversy, per the report. In The Mission , Weiner interwove Sylvester’s quotes with his own editorial critique of recent U.S. intelligence leadership. 'They are scared': MAGA developer burned after Trump policy scares away half his workers

Image
After months of national protests over U.S. President Donald Trump's mass deportation agenda, even some of his supporters—including an Alabama man who runs day-to-day operations at construction sites—have come to the conclusion that workplace raids aimed at rounding up undocumented immigrants are the wrong way to go. In an interview with Reuters published Monday, construction site superintendent Robby Robertson expressed frustration at the way the Trump administration's hard-line immigration policies have impacted his business. He said that trouble at his site began in late May shortly after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on a construction site in Tallahassee, Florida, which he said scared off nearly his entire workforce for several days afterward. Even though nearly two months have passed since then, he said a little more than half of his workforce has come back. This is negatively impacting his current project, which he said was projected to be fini...

'Stay out of it': Former Texas Republican lawmaker blasts Trump's effort to 'rig' midterms

Image
One former high-ranking Texas Republican state legislator is now coming out forcefully against President Donald Trump's latest push to drastically redraw congressional districts in the Lone Star State. Texas Governor Greg Abbott initially convened a special session of the legislature in order to address the deadly flooding in Kerr County, Texas. However, after Trump suggested that Texas Republicans use the special session as a means to conduct a mid-decade redistricting process in order to make the state's congressional map even more favorable to the GOP, Abbott assented. In a Friday op-ed for the New York Times , former state representative Burt Solomons — who served in the Texas House of Representatives between 1995 and 2013 and chaired the redistricting committee — said he was "deeply alarmed" by his party's special session's redistricting effort. Solomons described the plan as "an apparent bid to rig the 2026 midterm elections long before the vot...

'Didn't hold anything back': Ghislaine Maxwell gave up '100 different people' to Trump DOJ

Image
Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted child sex trafficker, reportedly gave the Justice Department information on around 100 people during two days of interviews with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in a Tallahassee courthouse. David Markus, Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney, said after Friday’s interview that he has not discussed a pardon with President Donald Trump or anyone in the administration, but noted Trump had earlier in the day reminded reporters he could grant one—even while maintaining he hasn’t considered it. Markus told reporters he hoped Trump “ exercises that power in the right and just way .” Markus “said after the meetings that his client was asked about maybe ‘100 different people’ in connection with Epstein. He said she did not hold anything back,” The Daily Beast reported. “Markus also said that she was asked about ‘every possible thing you could imagine–everything.'” The media outlet characterized Maxwell’s discussion of about 100 people as a “Shameless Pardo...

Trump DOJ sitting on 'more than 100,000 pages' of unreleased Epstein materials: NY Times

Image
A new report is shedding light on the truly massive trove of evidence the Department of Justice (DOJ) has amassed on Jeffrey Epstein — most of which has yet to see the light of day. The New York Times reported Thursday on what went on behind the scenes during an extensive review of the Epstein files that the DOJ conducted for several months earlier this year. According to the Times , DOJ staff combed through "more than 100,000 pages of documents" pertaining to the 2019 federal investigation into the convicted pedophile. DOJ attorneys reviewed the trove of evidence four times between February and April, and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche instructed staff to flag any mention of President Donald Trump , along with any other prominent public figures, "including former President Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew." Then in May, Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed to Trump that his name was in the Epstein documents, as the Wall Street Journal reported this week . ...

'MAGA voters are furious': GOP lawmakers pelted with Epstein questions at town halls

Image
Despite House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) sending the House of Representatives home early to head off a bipartisan resolution to release the DOJ's evidence on convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, lawmakers are unable to avoid questions about the issue from their own constituents. NPR reported Thursday that since returning back to their home districts, Republican lawmakers have been inundated with so many questions about the Epstein controversy that they've since taken steps to restrict access to their town hall meetings. According to NPR, Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) "changed the logistics of his own telephone town hall" earlier this week, saying on his X account that "we now have individuals from outside of our district (and even State) flooding the Tele-Town Hall RSVP page and my office lines." During that town hall, one caller expressed his outrage with Perry, accusing the Pennsylvania Republican of helping President Donald Trump sidestep the conversat...

'We should take this vote': MAGA Republican defends siding with Democrats on Epstein files

Image
On Wednesday, a House of Representatives subcommittee overwhelmingly passed a motion to subpoena the Department of Justice (DOJ) for its unreleased evidence pertaining to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein with bipartisan support. CNN congressional correspondent Manu Raju reported that the motion passed the House Oversight Committee's Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee by an 8-2 margin, with Reps. Brian Jack (R-Ga.), Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and Scott Perry (R-Pa.) voting with Democrats on the Democratic-sponsored motion. Mace reiterated that she planned to amend the motion to redact the names of victims from the materials. "This fight is coming, and it's here," Mace said. "I made it part of my life's mission to protect women and kids. And I think that I'm ready to take this vote, I think we should take this vote, and move forward, move this country forward. Fox News op-ed accuses Gabbard of 'fabricating a scandal to divert attention' from Epstein

Image
Fox News featured a scathing op-ed by former Biden administration official Ned Price on Wednesday, accusing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard of attempting to “rewrite history” to deflect from the controversy over convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Price, who served as State Department spokesperson, deputy U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and senior advisor at the State Department, criticized Gabbard’s assertion that senior officials in former President Barack Obama's administration conducted a “treasonous conspiracy” to fabricate claims of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Gabbard maintains that recently declassified documents reveal intelligence was “weaponized” against President Donald Trump when he was running his first campaign in 2016. 'Failed attempt': Conservative says Trump's drive to please MAGA shows he's at their mercy

Image
In an article for the New York Times published Tuesday, conservative opinion writer Ross Douthat examined President Donald Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, saying that the president's “failed attempt to simply make it go away” is a dramatic misstep. According to Doutthat, his effort was “an example of pulling against the MAGA tether and being yanked back, unusually hard.” That backlash, he noted, has prompted Trump’s team to shift tactics: unsealing grand jury transcripts, re‑igniting talk of “Russiagate,” and even staging television interviews with Ghislaine Maxwell. These moves, Douthat argued, represent not so much a pivot as a search for a win — a “victory, some success to satisfy MAGA’s demand for a win over the Deep State.” READ MORE: 'Lost his marbles': Trump mocked over meltdown about Obama in response to Epstein question Douthat warned, however, that this dynamic extends well beyond Trump alone, arguing that the more significant force is the...

'Lawyer up': Tuberville says Dems should be probed for trying to make America 'communist'

Image
U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) is joining a wave of Republican voices reviving criticism of the FBI’s Clinton email investigation—calling it “rigged” and saying it will be “fun” to watch Democrats “lawyer up”—as media scrutiny intensifies around Donald Trump’s ties to the late, notorious sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein and his refusal to release the files. Fox News on Monday reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under then Director James Comey, “botched” the Clinton emails investigation in 2016, citing a press release from U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA). The FBI “failed to perform fundamental investigative work and left key pieces of evidence on the cutting room floor,” Senator Grassley alleged. “The Comey FBI’s negligent approach and perhaps intentional lack of effort in the Clinton investigation is a stark contrast to its full-throated investigation of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, which was based on the uncorroborated and now discredited St...
