'When they repossess Mar-A-Lago': DeSantis fan accuses Kari Lake of lying about the FL gov at GOP debate

Conservative and self-proclaimed journalist Chris Nelson, minutes before the second GOP debate Wednesday, September 27, engaged in a fiery back-and-forth with ex-Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate and election denier Kari Lake, The Daily Beast reports.

"How are you going to run for Senate when you're already the governor?" Nelson shouted at the failed candidate.

Since the 2022 gubernatorial election, Lake has continued to deny her loss to Arizona Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs.

According to the Beast, an "ardently pro-[Florida Governor] Ron Desantis 'journalist,'" Nelson also "yelled in Lake's direction" the questions, "Why do you lie about Ron DeSantis? Why do you lie about Ron DeSantis, Kari Lake?"

The DeSantis fan then asked Lake, according to the report, "where she was going to live 'when they repossess Mar-A-Lago.'"

Vanity Fair reports, earlier this year "Lake, sources told People, 'spent a significant portion of her time at Mar-a-Lago during its open season,' so much so that she was apparently at the Florida resort 'more than Melania Trump,' a.k.a. [ex-President Donald] Trump's wife."

The shot at Lake regarding the ex-president's Florida estate is in reference to United States Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith's Mar-a-Lago documents case against Trump, which alleges that he "endangered the United States' national security by storing classified government documents at Mar-a-Lago."

The Beast reports video footage obtained by Nelson shows Lake eventually fired back, saying, "Why did Ron DeSantis close his state down? Children had to wear masks to school."

According to the report, "The Reagan Library, which hosted the debate, eventually revoked Nelson's media credential over his behavior. One event organizer could be heard on camera calling the reporter’s behavior equivalent to 'harassment.'"
