'Overplaying his hand?' Musk mocked over social media tirade against House GOP leadership
Ahead of the deadline for Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-LA) to cut a massive government spending bill by the end of this week, a group of MAGA Republicans against the legislation are threatening to vote against re-electing the GOP leader come January 3.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and former Donald Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon both slammed Johnson's leadership on Wednesday over the bill, which would extend the government funding deadline through March 14.
Now, billionaire and X owner Elon Musk — who Trump tapped last month to co-lead the new government cost cutting "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) alongside failed GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy — is publicly denouncing the bill and anyone who supports it.

Musk wrote via X: "Any member of the House or Senate who votes for this outrageous spending bill deserves to be voted out in 2 years!"
The MAGA nominee later added, "Please call your elected representatives right away to tell them how you feel! They are trying to get this passed today while no one is paying attention."
Several journalists and political experts mocked the billionaire's post.
Punchbowl News founder Jake Sherman replied: "This is quickly becoming untenable for House Republican leadership, which has elevated Musk as an authority on federal spending."

Scripps News congressional correspondent Nathaniel Reed wrote: "New @scrippsnews: A House Republican tells me he doesn’t think Musk’s tweet will spook GOP, but adds: 'This is the problem when you have people who think they’re co presidents.'"
Daily Beast columnist Wajahat Ali commented: "Richest man on Earth who paid 250 million to help get Trump elected has thoughts."
CNN political analyst Bakari Sellers added: "Is Musk overplaying his hand? He won’t have to feel the repercussions. Elected members of congress will"
